Ten Virgins
Mat 25:1
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto
ten virgins, which took
their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
The Apostle Paul had a little something to say
about virginity. Spiritual virginity.
2 Cor 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly
jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may
present you as a chaste[1] virgin to Christ.
1 "CHASTE":
53. hagnos, hag-nos'; from the same as G40; prop. clean,
i.e. (fig.) innocent, modest, perfect:--chaste, clean,
pure.
2 Cor 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the
serpent[1] beguiled[2] Eve through his subtlety[3], so your minds
should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
1 "SERPENT":
3789. ophis, of'-is; prob. from G3700 (through the idea of
sharpness of vision); a snake, fig. (as a type of sly cunning)
an artful malicious person, espec.
Satan:--serpent.
2 "BEGUILED":
1818. exapatao, ex-ap-at-ah'-o; from G1537 and G538; to
seduce wholly:--beguile, deceive.
3 "SUBTLETY":
3834. panourgia, pan-oorg-ee'-ah; from G3835; adroitness, i.e. (in
a bad sense) trickery or sophistry:--(cunning)
craftiness, subtilty.
2 Cor 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth
another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye
receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another
gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with
him.
Gal 1:6 I marvel[1] that ye are so soon removed
from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto
another[2] gospel:
1 "MARVEL":
2296. thaumazo, thou-mad'-zo; from G2295; to wonder; by impl. to
admire:--admire, have in admiration, marvel, wonder.
2 "ANOTHER":
2087. heteros, het'-er-os; of uncert. affin.; (an-, the) other
or different:--altered, else, next (day),
one, (an-) other, some, strange.
If they were removed from
Christ, (or Christianity), then at one time they must have been
in Christ. Or at least thought they were. Just like today,
amnesia sets in pretty quick. People seem to be a Christian one
day and not the next.
I believe the ten virgins, Jesus describes in
the book of Matthew, represents the state of Christianity just
prior to His second coming. Those who really are and those who
claim to be Christians. We know that some who claim to be,
aren't going to make it. Just as Jesus states in the the three
verses below.
Mat 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord,
shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the
will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord,
have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out
devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew
you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Again Paul tells of some who're into God's
Word that will defect.
2 Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering
together unto him,
2 Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be
troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us,
as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2 Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for
that day shall not come, except there come a falling[1] away
first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
1 "FALLING":
646. apostasia, ap-os-tas-ee'-ah; fem. of the same as G647;
defection from truth (prop. the state)
["apostasy"]:--falling away, forsake.
For someone to defect from Truth,
at one time they must've been in It.
2 Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above
all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God
sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word
is truth.
Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness is an
everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
The chart below depicts
religion as it currently is in the world. 2008.
I believe the parable
of the ten virgins represent True Christians and the so
called Christians at the time just prior to and at the
second coming of Christ. Think about it, none of the other
religions recognize Jesus as The Son of The Living God.
The Messiah. The True Virgins? Just who are they?
Rev 14:4 These are they
which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins.
These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth.
These were redeemed from among men, being
the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
Now back to Matthew 25:
Mat 25:2
And five of them were wise,
and five were foolish[1].
1
"FOOLISH": 3474. moros, mo-ros'; prob.
from the base of G3466; dull or stupid (as if shut
up), i.e. heedless, (mor.) blockhead, (appar.)
absurd:--fool (-ish, X -ishness).
Mat 25:3
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no
oil[1]
with them:
1
"OIL": 1637. elaion, el'-ah-yon; neut.
of the same as G1636; olive oil:--oil.
I think the oil is
pertaining to the knowledge of God's word. Some will not
have enough at this time to withstand the fiery darts of
Satan. Read
Zec. 4:1 thru 3, Zec. 4:11 thru
14, and all of Revelation 11.
Zec 4:1 And the angel that
talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is
wakened out of his sleep,
Zec 4:2 And said unto me,
What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a
candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of
it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the
seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
Zec 4:3 And two olive
trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and
the other upon the left side thereof.
Zec 4:11 Then answered I,
and said unto him, What are these two olive trees
upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left
side thereof?
Zec 4:12 And I answered
again, and said unto him, What be these two olive
branches which through the two golden pipes empty the
golden oil out of themselves?
Zec 4:13 And he answered
me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I
said, No, my lord.
What, or who, are
these two olive trees?
Zec 4:14 Then said he,
These are the two anointed ones, that stand by
the Lord of the whole earth.
The next few verses
in Revelation chapter eleven are just before and
includes Christ's return.
Rev 11:3 And I will give
power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy
a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in
sackcloth.
Rev 11:4 These are the
two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing
before the God of the earth.
Rev 11:5 And if any man
will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and
devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he
must in this manner be killed.
What comes from
peoples mouths? Words. They'll be using God's word.
Rev 11:6 These have power
to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their
prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood,
and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they
will.
Rev 11:7 And when they
shall have finished their testimony, the beast that
ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against
them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
Note, not until
they've finished the work God has for them to do. Then
and only then does Satan do what God has forbidden him.
And what was that?
1 Chr 16:22 Saying,
Touch not mine anointed, and do
my prophets no harm.
Psa 105:15 Saying,
Touch not mine anointed, and do
my prophets no harm.
Satan is about to
do the forbidden which was predicted at least three
thousand years before the fact in Psalms 79.
Rev 11:8 And their dead
bodies shall lie in the street[1] of the great city,
which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our
Lord was crucified.
1 "STREET":
4113. plateia, plat-i'-ah; fem. of G4116; a wide
"plat" or "place", i.e. open square:--street.
Rev 11:9 And they of
the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see
their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not
suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
Psa 79:2
The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be
meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy
saints unto the beasts of the earth.
Psa 79:3 Their blood have they shed like water
round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
See how God
foretells us all things.
Rev 11:10 And they that
dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make
merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these
two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Rev 11:11 And after three
days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into
them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell
upon them which saw them.
Rev 11:12 And they heard a
great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither.
And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies
beheld them.
Rev 11:13 And the same
hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the
city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven
thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to
the God of heaven.
The same hour? What
hour? The midnight hour, when the Bridegroom,
(Jesus), comes.
Rev 11:14
The second woe is past; and, behold,
the third woe cometh quickly.
There are only
three woes.
Rev 8:13 And I beheld,
and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven,
saying with a loud voice, Woe,
woe, woe, to the inhabiters of
the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet
of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
The first woe
happened in Revelation 9:12.
Rev 9:12 One woe is
past; and, behold, there come two woes more
hereafter.
The second just
happened in Revelation 11:14 and the third woe starts
immediately at Revelation 11:15.
I'm inserting, (or
repeating), Rev.11:14 again so not to lose the thought.
Rev 11:14
The second woe is past; and, behold,
the third woe cometh quickly.
The third woe:
Rev 11:15 And the
seventh angel sounded[1]; and there were great voices in
heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the
kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall
reign for ever and ever.
1
"SOUNDED": 4537. salpizo,
sal-pid'-zo; from G4536; to trumpet, i.e.
sound a blast (lit. or fig.):--(which are yet to)
sound (a trumpet).
Here the
Bridegroom has returned. This is the
midnight hour.
Christ takes possession of the kingdoms of this world.
This will be the last day of this flesh age and the
beginning of the one thousand year reign of Christ. See
1Co. 15:50 thru 1Co. 15:52. where it states that flesh and
blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. If the kingdoms
of this world become the kingdoms of God, all flesh and
blood must be done away with. So at the coming of Christ
all flesh must cease to exist.
Rev 10:7 But in the days
of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall
begin to sound, the mystery of God should be
finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
All our wondering
and guess work will then be over. The mystery of God
made clear.
Mat 25:4
But the wise took oil in their vessels[1]
with their lamps.
1
"VESSELS": 30. aggeion, ang-eye'-on;
from aggos (a pail, perh. as bent; comp. the base of
G43); a receptacle:--vessel.
Mat 25:5
While the bridegroom
tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
1 Th 5:6 Therefore let us
not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Mat 25:6
And
at midnight there was a
cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Who'll be making that
cry? The two witnesses, plus more that are delivered up. See
Mark 13.
Mat 25:7
Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed[1]
their lamps.
1
"TRIMMED": 2885. kosmeo, kos-meh'-o;
from G2889; to put in proper order, i.e. decorate
(lit. or fig.); spec. to snuff (a wick):--adorn, garnish,
trim.
Mat 25:8
And the foolish said unto
the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mat 25:9
But the
wise[1]
answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us
and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for
yourselves.
1
"WISE": 5429. phronimos, fron'-ee-mos;
from G5424; thoughtful, i.e. sagacious or
discreet (implying a cautious character; while G4680
denotes practical skill or acumen; and G4908 indicates
rather intelligence or mental acquirement); in a bad sense
conceited (also in the compar.):--wise (-r).
5424. phren, frane; prob. from an obsol. phrao (to
rein in or curb; comp. G5420); the midrif (as
a partition of the body), i.e. (fig. and by
impl. of sympathy) the feelings (or sensitive nature; by
extens. [also in the plur.] the mind or cognitive
faculties):--understanding.
At this time, only
those who have the mark of the beast, may buy or sell.
If they're going to buy, they've accepted the mark.
Rev 13:17 And that no
man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the
name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom.
Let him that hath understanding count[1] the number
of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number
is Six hundred threescore and six.
1 "COUNT"
5585. psephizo, psay-fid'-zo;
from G5586; to use pebbles in
enumeration, i.e. (gen.) to compute:--count.
5586. psephos, psay'-fos; from the same as G5584;
a pebble (as worn smooth by handling), i.e.
(by impl. of use as a counter
or ballot)
a verdict (of acquittal) or ticket (of admission);
a vote:--stone,
voice.
When this time comes
round, who will you be voting for?
.... Currently, in 2008, in fun people
are saying one of our presidential candidates is the
Messiah, he'll part the waters, and save the earth. Some
say he's the antichrist. He's neither, but, God does
send us types. ......Wake up
America!!!
I think God, (Jesus),
is saying what He told His children long long ago.
Judg 10:13 Yet ye have
forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore
I will deliver you no more.
Judg 10:14
Go and cry unto the gods which ye have
chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your
tribulation.
Rev 22:10 And he saith
unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book:
for the time is at hand.
What time is at
hand? ....... The end of time.
Rev 22:11 He that is
unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is
filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is
righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is
holy, let him be holy still.
Here we are, only
ten verses from the end of the Bible. Is God, or Jesus, begging
people to come? No. Let the chips fall where they may.
Rev 22:12
And, behold, I come quickly;
and my reward is with me, to give every man according
as his work shall be.
There is another
hour. Probably the eleventh.
Rev 3:7
And to the angel of the
church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is
holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he
that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man
openeth;
Rev 3:8
I know thy works:
behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can
shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my
word, and hast not denied my name.
Rev 3:9
Behold, I will make
them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and
are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and
worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
Rev 3:10
Because thou hast kept
the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from
the hour of temptation,
which shall come upon all the world,
to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Rev 3:11
Behold, I come quickly: hold
that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
During this hour of
temptation what will the wise, those of
understanding, be doing?
Dan 12:9 And he said, Go
thy way, Daniel: for the words are
closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Dan 12:10 Many shall be
purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do
wickedly: and none of the wicked
shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
Dan 11:32 And such as do
wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by
flatteries: but the people that do
know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Dan 11:33 And they that
understand among the people shall instruct many:
yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by
captivity, and by spoil, many days.
Dan 11:34 Now when they
shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but
many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
Dan 11:35 And some of them
of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to
purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end:
because it is yet for a time appointed.
Mat 25:10
And while
they went to
buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in
with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Remember, at this time,
only those having the mark of the beast may buy or sell.
Luke 13:25
When once the master
of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door,
and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door,
saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and
say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Mat 25:11
Afterward came also the other
virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Amos 8:13 In that day
shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
I bet there'll be lots
of fainting going on. Thirsty for that Living Water.
Mat 25:12
But he answered and said,
Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
As I stated earlier,
God sends us types. Let's examine another from long long
ago.
Just like Absalom took his father's, (king David's), wives,
Satan, (the antichrist), will try to take the bride of
Jesus. As God told David in advance that his wives would be
taken, He's telling the Christians of the end time to beware
of the same thing.
2 Sam 12:11 Thus saith the
LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine
own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes,
and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy
wives in the sight of this sun.
2 Sam 12:12 For thou didst
it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and
before the sun.
2 Sam 16:21 And Ahithophel
said unto Absalom, Go in unto thy father's concubines,
which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall
hear that thou art abhorred of thy father: then shall the
hands of all that are with thee be strong.
2 Sam 16:22 So they spread
Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and
Absalom went in unto his father's concubines
in the sight of all Israel.
2 Sam 20:3 And David came
to his house at Jerusalem; and the
king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to
keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went
not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their
death, living in widowhood.
Mat 25:13
Watch therefore, for ye
know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Rev 16:15
Behold, I come as a thief.
Blessed is he that
watcheth, and keepeth his
garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
Rev 16:16 And he gathered
them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue
Armageddon.
When is Jesus coming?
Well, here we are at the battle of Armageddon. ........ Watcheth?
Mark 13:35
Watch ye therefore: for ye
know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at
midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
Mark 13:36
Lest coming suddenly he find you
sleeping.
Mark 13:37
And what I say unto you I say
unto all,
Watch.
Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and
in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress[1]
of nations[2], with
perplexity[3];
the sea and the waves roaring;
Note the meaning of the
word perplexity. Sure fits today. September, 2008.
Read 2 Chronicles chapter 20, for a good story about being
perplexed.
1
"DISTRESS": 4928. sunoche,
soon-okh-ay'; from G4912; restraint, i.e. (fig.) anxiety:--anguish,
distress.
2
"NATIONS": 1484. ethnos,
eth'-nos; prob. from G1486; a race (as of the
same habit), i.e. a tribe; spec. a foreign (non-Jewish) one
(usually by impl. pagan):--Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
3
"PERPLEXITY": 640. aporia,
ap-or-ee'-a; from the same as G639; a (state of)
quandary:--perplexity.
639. aporeo, ap-or-eh'-o;
from a comp. of G1 (as a neg. particle) and the base of
G4198; to have no way out, i.e. be
at a loss (mentally):--(stand in) doubt, be
perplexed.
Isa 22:5 For it is a day
of trouble, and of treading down, and of
perplexity
by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking
down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.
Micah 7:4 The best of them
is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn
hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh;
now shall be their perplexity.
Mark 13:8
For nation[1]
shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and
there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be
famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of
sorrows.
1
"NATION": 1484. ethnos, eth'-nos; prob. from
G1486; a race (as of the same habit), i.e. a
tribe; spec. a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually by impl.
pagan):--Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
With all that's
going on now, September, 2008, aren’t people beginning to
feel a little perplexed? Wars, rumors of wars,
terrorism, and economic meltdown. Kinda like there's
no way out?
At a loss mentally?
Standing in doubt?
.....Wake
up America!!!
Thanks, for allowing me, to share
this with you. Remember, to always, study to show thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto
more ungodliness. ....
Maybe the foolish virgins
failed to follow this advise.
