From the elder, (John), to the elect lady and her children

2 John 1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

When Bible Scriptures are directed towards the elect, others may not understand.

The Truth shall be with us for ever

2 John 1:2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever[1].

1 "EVER": 165. aion, ahee-ohn'; from the same as G104; prop. an age; by extens. perpetuity (also past); by impl. the world; spec. (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):--age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Comp. G5550.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

2 John 1:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

2 John 1:4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

2 John 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

The commandment heard from the beginning

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Many deceivers have entered into the world

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

If they were around in John's time, just imagine what it's like now, in the 21st. Century.

Make sure you receive a full reward

2 John 1:8 Look[1] to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought[2], but that we receive a full reward.

1 "LOOK": 991. blepo, blep'-o; a prim. verb; to look at (lit. or fig.):--behold, beware, lie, look (on, to), perceive, regard, see, sight, take heed. Comp. G3700.

2 "WROUGHT": 2038. ergazomai, er-gad'-zom-ahee; mid. from G2041; to toil (as a task, occupation, etc.), (by impl.) effect, be engaged in or with, etc.:--commit, do, labor for, minister about, trade (by), work.

He that abides in the doctrine of Christ
hath both the Father and the Son

2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Receive him not, neither bid him God speed

2 John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

How to be a partaker of someone's evil deeds

2 John 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

2 John 1:12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

2 John 1:13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

Thanks, for allowing me, to share this with you. Remember, to always, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

In His Word,
